Call to Artists – Competion to redesign the iconic Knoxville 1982 World’s Fair Logo
The World's Fair 40th Anniversary Celebration Logo
In honor of the upcoming anniversary of The 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Visit Knoxville, the Arts & Culture Alliance and The Maker City announce a call for artists for the design and creation of the 40th Anniversary Celebration Logo.
The call for entries is open to any artist living within 250 miles of Knoxville and offers a $1,000 honorarium. There is no submission fee, and the deadline for submissions is 4:00 PM (ET) on Monday, November 1, 2021.
Artists should provide five examples of previously created logos that show your artistic/design range or submit up to five versions of a logo idea.
From all entries, 20 artists will be chosen by a formal committee of art and design professionals and presented at the November 9th World’s Fair 40th Anniversary Committee meeting at Visit Knoxville for silent vote. The chosen designer will be contacted to finalize the logo shortly thereafter and will have 10 days to complete the submission.
Artists may use the flame from the original, trademarked logo in design submissions. Permissions are granted for this contest only. The ideal design scheme should lend itself to either horizontal or vertical layout. Logo submissions should be uploaded as PDF only.
The chosen design will need to be provided in vector format (.eps, .ai, with transparent background) and photo format (.png with transparent background and jpeg). The logo must have resolution options that overlay it for a video up to 300dpi. It must be possible to apply either on light or dark backgrounds or with the same file or with two files, one positive and one negative. Please provide a color profile in RGB and CMYK (for color printing).
The chosen designer, upon submission, gives full usage rights to Visit Knoxville, the City of Knoxville, and Knox County to use to promote the World’s Fair 40th anniversary as well as future projects to promote World’s Fair Park/The Sunsphere to assist in raising money for the Sunsphere Fund.
